Communicating with purpose
Research Rooted in Relationship
A research project exploring how audiences connect with Indigenous-led conservation.
For my graduate research course, I conducted a survey exploring how audiences understand and engage with Indigenous-led conservation storytelling. The project examined what messages resonate most, how people build trust with organizations, and where gaps in understanding exist.
Writing for Change
A published Op-Ed on Indigenous leadership in conservation.
This Op-Ed began as an assignment in my Strategic Communication Writing course and evolved into a published piece for The State Press, Arizona State University’s student-run newspaper. The article was also selected to be featured in Nia Tero’s press section, extending its reach to a broader conservation and Indigenous rights audience.
Stories in Motion
Phoenix Indian Center – Excellence in Leadership Awards (2025)
This video was created as part of my Video and Photography course, where our assignment was to produce a short social media story featuring a mission-driven organization. I filmed the Phoenix Indian Center’s 2025 Excellence in Leadership Awards, captured interviews with CEO Jolyana Begay-Kroupa and honoree Melody Lewis, and recorded the final voiceover. The piece blends technical filmmaking with community-centered storytelling, highlighting Indigenous leadership and cultural connection in Phoenix.
